Micky Adams: Port Vale have plenty of work to do to justify promotion favourites tag
PORT Vale have a long way to go before they can be regarded as promotion favourites.
That's the view of manager Micky Adams, who is refusing to take anything for granted despite his team being well placed for a top-three finish.

Tuesday's 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon left them 12 points clear of the play-off pack at the top of the table.
But Adams says Vale have plenty of work to do in order to secure one of the automatic promotion spots.

"We've created a nice gap and the other teams have a lot to do to catch us," he said.
"But it's not a massive mountain to climb.
"It was only a few weeks ago that Gillingham were nine points ahead of us.
"That shows you how things can turn around very quickly.
"We're 12 points ahead of Burton in fourth place, but Rotherham are only a point further back and they have two games in hand.
"I wouldn't say we are promotion favourites, but then again I'm not a bookie."
The midweek win was the Valiants' fourth in five matches ahead of today's trip to second-from-bottom Barnet.
"We're in good shape and in a tremendous run of form," added Adams.
"The team is playing with a lot of confidence and the players are feeling good about themselves.
"It's not a fluke that we are where we are, but we can't rest on our laurels. We have to work at everything we do.
"People will look at the league table and think this is an easy three points, but it's never as easy as that.
"Our game at Wimbledon (Vale came from two down to draw 2-2) showed us if we're not at it, you can roll over and let the opposition tickle your bellies.
"We need to believe in ourselves, do the things that we know will get us results and hopefully have a bit of luck on the day.
"If we do that, then Barnet should hold no fears for us."
