Port Vale: Spirit spot on for promotion push, says Lee Hughes
LEE Hughes took little time to figure out one of the biggest strengths in the Port Vale dressing room.
The veteran striker took part in his first training session at Vale Park on Thursday, and was immediately impressed by the spirit in the camp.
Hughes, aged 36, was speaking with the experience of several promotion campaigns under his belt when he said: "That's exactly what you need to be successful.
"The lads seem like a great bunch and they've obviously got a great team spirit going.

"We had that when I was promoted with Notts County and I could see it straight away here.
"They made me feel welcome and I think it's going to be great."Hughes said he had been impressed by the quality in the squad too.
"There are some great players here and it's no wonder they've been doing so well," he added.
"I could see how good they are after just one training session.
"I know the gaffer likes the players to work hard on their fitness and I'm up for that because you take that out on to the pitch."
Hughes completed his short-term move from the Magpies on Tuesday, despite the late intervention of Martin Allen.
The Gillingham boss made an early-morning call to try to tempt the striker to Kent instead.
But Hughes was having none of that.
"I had already made promises and I had made my mind up," he said.
"But I know what sort of manager Martin is from when we were together at Notts.
"And I know he'll have his team fired up for this game against us.
"He'll have watched DVDs and seen every one of our players because that's what he does.
"But I think we're good enough to come back from there with three points and top spot in the bag.
"As long as we give 100 per cent, I can see no reason why we can't."
