Port Vale: Ryder happy as Vale fans rush to back Micky's men
KEITH Ryder says he is encouraged by the number of season tickets sold by Port Vale ahead of yesterday's 'Early Bird' deadline.
A total of 2,598 fans have now booked their places for the 2012-13 season – almost 600 more than a similar time last year despite a five per cent increase in prices.

And prospective owner Ryder says that's an encouraging start.
"After such a tumultuous season, it's pleasing that so many supporters have opted to purchase season tickets and back the team," he said.

"I believe the next year will be an exciting time for the club and I hope to progress with our plans in earnest as soon as the deal to take over Port Vale is finalised."
As the deadline for reduced prices has now passed, the cost of an adult ticket for all areas of the ground, except the Lorne Street Stand, will rise from £272 to £314.
Ryder added: "Although the 'Early Bird' deadline has now passed, I hope even more fans will show their support by purchasing season tickets.
"This commitment is much appreciated and I am certain a good attendance at Vale Park will provide a huge boost to the team next season."
Ryder earlier refused to review the decision by administrators Begbies Traynor to raise the cost of season tickets by around five per cent.
"We researched prices and think the price per game is very reasonable," he said.
TICKETS are still available, priced £5 for Vale's Player-of-the-Year awards night, which takes place tonight at Vale Park (7.30pm).

"have the administerters finished now as we get no information from them any more"
Proper business practice is to cascade information on a need-to-know basis. You don't need to know. Next press release June 30th.

“VantaaVale said
"why can't the club have a scheme whereby the early bird price is fixed for previous season ticket holders, as a thanks for loyalty?"
Like the previous board did you mean?
Just a joke youth, they did but thats not the point now.
I'm sure that once he gets in Mr Ryder will have all sorts of ideas to make all of the tickets atractive but just now we should give him some space to complete the takeover and get a hold of all the management.”

“lanternhead,
We buy our season tickets every year.
How about you?
I do symapthise with Marnik a bit, him and his family were there for the club through all of the worst times but now hes been caught by surprise by the administrator raising the prices.
Perhaps if Marnik writes in to Mr Ryder and Mr Young and explains his situation and tells them he could pay the early bird price in a couple of weeks but cant afford the high price the worst that can happen is he wastes a stamp and the best is that he gets a result bcause Mr Ryder has already been more than fair with the life ST people.”

“I think Marnik has a valid point.
It's hard enough to attract new supporters with Stoke offering Premier League football. So Vale need to find ways of keeping existing supporters happy.
So why can't the club have a scheme whereby the early bird price is fixed for previous season ticket holders, as a thanks for loyalty?”

“Vale_For_Real,
I agree with the latter part of your post when you said that " Mr. Ryder can't review the decision by the administrators until he completes the takeover by the end of June".
Mr. Ryder is, at the moment, still the "prospective buyer" of the Vale. The people who are running things at the club are still the administrators, Mr. Ryder will only take full control when he achieves Football League approval, (hopefully a formality), then, and only then, can he make decisions regarding admission prices. He may, by then, be too far down the line to make any adjustments to the season ticket prices, but he has said he will look at pay-at-the-gate prices, So don't despair. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if he made the ST prices for the season after next more attractive.
As for your comment Vale_For_Real, about "any chance of the Sentinel giving Mr. Ryder a fair chance to show what he is all about", have you ever heard the expression "nailing blancmange to the ceiling". As I've said many times before, the Sentinel, like radio Stoke, their loyalties lies in ST4, not ST6.
I have a warm feeling about Mr. Ryder, the Vale is now "his baby", and I don't think he will put his investment at risk. Any future investors, and proposed new directors, will need to satisfy his obvious high standards to join him on the Board. KEEP THE FAITH.”

As Ryder has not announced any pay on the day pricing or deals I can not comment if they are good value or not.
I supported the team last season, got no abuse and was not called any names, not sure why you did, perhaps you were very, very unlucky”

“Vale_For_Real no it wasn't a surprise but the very small time you got to renew was actually, i had from the flyer coming through the post a little over 7 days to renew over £700 for a family in this climate staggering. That isn't my argument my argument is that we should have been given more notice and time. It was ok when the seo were slating us for going.
Mind you no one i know had a voting slip for player of the year so nothing surprises me at all.
PVFC4REAL i do wish to renew we just cant afford to pay that amount out in that short space of time price announcement and early bird rate going up was virtually no time at all. Secondly if you think pay on the day pricing structures are good for families & affordable your very much mistaken.
davoknype rake up the past it is all very much present it is not dead and buried it will always be there those who supported the team last season and took abuse from those who weren't please don't say it didn't happen because it did. What were those like me who went were called happy clappers i seem to remember among other unprintable things. there are divisions that will take years to heal.”
