SEAN Rigg is determined to end his goal drought after resuming his strike partnership with top scorer Marc Richards.

The 21-year-old has failed to find the net in his last nine games, which have included three starts on the wing and five substitute appearances.

But after being restored to a central striking role alongside 15-goal Richards in Saturday's 3-1 home defeat by Northampton, he is ready to hit the goal trail again.

"I'm very happy to be back playing as a striker as it's my preferred position," said Rigg, ahead of tonight's home game with match against Bradford City (7.45pm).

"I'll play anywhere, to get myself on the pitch, but it's good to be back up front with Rico and hopefully I did enough on Saturday to keep my place.

"I want to stay up front. That's where I enjoy playing and I love scoring goals.

"When you start up front you've always got your mind set on scoring for the team.

"It was my first game back up top on Saturday and unfortunately I didn't score.

"It only takes one chance, one goal, and then you get on a roll again – I know that will come."

Since arriving on loan from League One side Bristol Rovers in November, Rigg has scored two goals. during back-to-back appearances.

He struck his first in the 2-1 victory at Grimsby, on December 28, before scoring in the 3-1 home success over Burton three weeks later.

Rigg's progress was hampered after suffering a hamstring injury against Burton and he has been forced to play second fiddle to fellow loan striker Craig Davies in recent weeks.

With his deal set to expire in the summer, Rigg added: "I've enjoyed my time here and I hope we can push on and get more wins.

"I'll try to get a couple of goals and I'm as determined as anyone in the squad.

"I want to do well for myself, but the most important thing is the team."
