Adams is expected to combine 25-goal striker Tom Pope with new signing Lee Hughes up front, with wingers Jennison Myrie-Williams and Ashley Vincent providing the ammunition.

And though he admits his free-scoring team will come under pressure at times at the Priestfield Stadium, Adams is refusing to change his ways.

"We know on our day that our front four can cause teams problems," he said.

"We'll go down there in a positive frame of mind and we hope they're on form.

"We've been very positive on the road this season and we'll continue to be so."

Adams expects Gillingham to be equally keen to get on the front foot.

"I'm expecting a game between two teams who are going for it," he added.

"I don't see them being negative at all.

"They've got competition for places in all areas and some very dangerous players if you let them play.

"I don't think we'll have it all our own way and there are times we'll be under the cosh.

"We've got to be resolute and defend well, which is something we've not necessarily done all the time."

Adams looks set to change the team which beat Plymouth 4-0 last time out.

Both Hughes and centre-half Darren Purse could be handed their debuts, with fellow new signing Chris Birchall also available.

"If I need to make changes, I won't be afraid to," said Adams.

"But the lads are coming to understand whatever we do, we are picking a team with a view to winning the game.

"We have options now and we can mix it up at any given moment."
