PORT Vale have been handed a double fitness boost ahead of tonight's Staffordshire derby.

Ryan Burge and Adam Yates are in the squad visiting Burton (7.45pm) and, with Sam Morsy back from suspension, boss Micky Adams has a selection headache.

Midfielder Burge, aged 24, has recovered quickly after tweaking a knee ligament during the 3-0 win against Oxford United last week.

Yates suffered a knee injury after falling awkwardly in training and missed Saturday's 4-1 victory against Wycombe Wanderers.

The right-back seems likely to be on the bench to face one of his former clubs, but it's in central midfield where Adams must pick two from four.

Darren Murphy did well on his full debut alongside Chris Shuker at the weekend, but with Burge now fit and Morsy available again, the Irish midfielder may make way.

Vale look set to sell out their 2,000 allocation for the short trip across the county.

And Adams is hoping his second-placed side can once again deliver the goods as they look to close the three-point gap to Gillingham.

"We're not expecting to simply turn up and claim three points, but there wouldn't be 2,000 fans going there if they thought we were going to lose," he added.

"They've got confidence we'll get a result. They're showing faith in us and we've got to produce the goods."

Adams is demanding his players start the game in the right frame of mind.

He was unhappy with their performance in the first half against Wycombe, which saw them trail 1-0, and is keen to make sure they don't make the same mistake again.

"We're there to be shot at," added Adams.

"When we're in the mood, we're a difficult side to play against, but we've got to ensure we start right.

"It's up to me and the coaches to make sure the players are ready."
