FORMER Valiants midfielder Malvin Kamara says Dean Glover’s men will meet a Huddersfield side desperate to prove a point when the FA Cup rivals lock horns on Saturday.

The League One outfit are still reeling from the departure of former boss Stan Ternent who left the club, after a short six-month reign, on Tuesday.

However, Terriers midfielder Kamara says Ternent’s demise has handed him a clean slate, having only appeared twice for the club this season, before completing a month’s loan at League Two side Grimsby.

The 24-year-old appeared 43 times for the club last season, but says he was virtually “ostracised” by Ternent, following his arrival in May, despite impressing during pre-season and in outings for the reserves.

Kamara said: “When a manager leaves it reflects poorly on the team. Now everybody wants to do well from the keeper through to everybody else in the squad. We want to show what we can do.

“Whoever plays on Saturday, we are starting again, and everybody will be up for it.

“A lot of players, like myself, have not been given a chance this season to show the fans what we can do. We will be champing at every second and there will be a lot of hungry people out there on Saturday.”

Kamara insists he is relishing the prospect of working under caretaker boss Gerry Murphy, and says the 65-year-old has already injected more unity within the squad.

The midfielder joined Huddersfield in the summer of 2007 after making 18 appearances, including one goal, for Vale during a six-month stint.

Glover was working as Martin Foyle’s assistant during his spell at the club. And Kamara is not surprised by the impressive start Glover has made to his management career, leading Vale to four wins in six games.

Kamara added: “I’m not surprised at all. I was surprised he didn’t get the job the last time, no disrespect to Lee Sinnott. Dean is somebody I have a lot of respect for. He knows the game, his temperament is spot on and that is now being shown by the results.”
