Port Vale: FA imposes transfer embargo relating to unpaid tax bill
PORT Vale have been barred from completing the signing of Chris Birchall after a transfer embargo relating to an unpaid tax bill. The Football League has imposed the transfer embargo which was confirmed today by the club on its website. Vale vice-chairman Mike Lloyd said in a statement today: "I can confirm that we are emargoed to make transfers by the Football League as we are behind with a HMRC payment and this is an automatic action when this occurs."We are behind on payments because of a revenue shortfall."The various (anti-board) campaigns and increased overheads, coupled with lower attendances nationally have had a huge affect on income, circa to a loss of £200,000 so far this season. This has created a huge problem with regard to our cash flow."
What do you think?

“Mr Lloyd
How do you know what the state of affairs at the club is due to or caused by?
Neither you or any others of the board have even been near the club in the year 2012!
Day to day running has been down to the club secretary.
Prediction - None of you will be at the EGM because there will not be one as administration will arrive first! which is what was manoueverred by you in the first place.
I only hope Mr Miller paid you enough in rent for his stay in your flat during his short time here to enable to book a fast flight to Rio - you,ll need it!”

“Some people have got a nerve to blame loyal supporters for the financial state of the club. Perhaps Mr. Lloyd, you should look a little closer to home. Might I suggest you ask messrs Deakin and Miller where the £350,000 they allegedly owe the club for the shares they took without paying a single penny for. That is a lot of money for a club like the Vale to do without, did they not realise that these situations would raise their heads if you don't pay for goods that you receive.
Mr. Lloyd, you need to put your own house in order before you criticise others.”

“By the way, I waited to leave the car park at Northampton and so I listened to BBC Radio Northampton. Micky Adams is a figure on hate on their station now for using incorrectly - they allege - comments from their Tuesday night programme when they are supposed to have said Vale should be another win for Northampton to motivate the team during the team talk. Mind you their team is clearly struggling with just Akifenwa and Duke up to the job as fas as I could see.”

“The team played well at Northampton yesterday and with the two new additions has a chance of making the playoffs. The two home games are handy coming ahead of the AGM also and especially if a good crowd turns up for Crewe. I think it is worth attending and trying to keep the club out of administration ahead of the AGM where the future of club will be determined - albeit I think an interim board will find horrors that may force administration anyway. The vultures are circling because of the club's poor financial position and failure to pay bills, but there is also probably an element of people trying to get money out of the club and lodge civil court claims and judgements in anticipation of administration.
The statements made by Mike Lloyd above beg belief. With his involvement and others with similar thinking before him the club has been on a spiral of decline for 9 years. The club has been relegated, it has enormous debts, its making large trading losses, its accounts have not been published on time, the stadium has poor and dirty toilet facilities, very poor catering in the stands, the seats in the Bycars stand front rows are filthy, the directors have gained election by a con trick on shareholders, the past chair was ripping the club off with his pay and expenses, a so called investment clearly didn't have the substance and value put out to fans, the relationship with the fans and shareholders - customers - is as poor as it is possible to get. It is difficult to have managed a business worse than this other than have gone directly to the bank, stolen all its funds and emigrated to Brazil.”

“Mr Lloyd,
I was astonished to read your comments above and even more astonished that they were apparently communicated to the media by text message rather than face to face. I was absolutely furious, however, to hear your excuse for the club's inability to meet its obligations to the taxman. It is, in your opinion, all the fault of the fans and SEO. Well let me explain to you, Mr Lloyd, why you are totally deluded in this assumption and not fit to be in charge of our football club.
Firstly, there is absolutely no obligation on supporters to attend games. It is entirely their choice whether they do so or not. In recent seasons Vale's average attendances have increased from a low of 4,400 in 2008 up to over 5,500 last year. In each of those seasons the Board of Directors, of which you have been a part, has still managed to produce six figure losses in the accounts. Was that the fault of the supporters or was it incompetence and mismanagement at the top?
Secondly, you and the rest of the directors were told very clearly what the situation would be this season if there was not major change at the club. Starve 'em Out was actually the most helpful bit of customer feedback you have ever received. The fans were clear enough, you go or we don't. You chose to ignore that clear message and instead, appear to have set a budget, which was dependent on wholly unrealistic attendance figures. Had fans simply walked away from the club your difficulties could, perhaps, be understood. But they didn't – they told you what they were going to do. They told you attendances would be down. They told you takings in the shop and in the catering outlets would be down. Yet you chose to ignore this and go on a ridiculous spending spree paying out stupid and totally undeserved salary packages to individuals who would find it difficult to organise a successful booze up in a brewery.
Now you find you can't pay the bills and instead of accepting responsibility for the ludicrous mismanagement of the club's finances, you seek to alienate further those very people upon whom you depend to improve your income streams by blaming them for the current mess. Quite frankly, Mr Lloyd, your actions make me weep. So may I politely request that you get yourself back down the M6 to Walsall and take that collection of rogues and vagabonds who infest our Board Room with you.”

“Just a thought but if Portsmouth are wound up might we see Port Vale relocate to Portsmouth if we are not careful (Port Vale is not linked by name to any specific place)?”

“VFR good post
Now its time to get behind the team, the AGM/EGM will take care of its self. Mickey gave a brilliant interview after the game and now its time to get bums on seats and support the team, not the board, THE TEAM.
I wonder if the string puller will put a deal on the table before the AGM and rescue us or will he just let the club continue to slide and pick it up for very little outlay.
We have a real chance of making the play offs so lets back Micky and give him the support his and our teams efforts deserve”

“I have been supporting the vale for 5 decades as my father and grandfather before me,i have encouraged my kids and grandkids to keep the family tradition alive which they are doing, but ive got a sinking feeling about our present predicament. If the SC are successful in their bid to oust the current board in march they need to have investment in place now because as sure is eggs are eggs we will be in admin and staring into the abyss.HMRC must be getting fed up with football clubs and could be looking at winding up a small club like the vale.I hope i am so wrong.UP THE VALE.”
