Port Vale: Adams keen for players to bounce back
VALE boss Micky Adams blamed his side's "two minutes of madness" at the end of the first half for this afternoon's 3-1 home defeat by Northampton Town.
Valiants midfielder Doug Loft had cancelled out an early strike from Adebayo Akinfenwa, before Northampton stormed into a 3-1 lead when Abdul Osman and Billy McKay scored in the 45th in 47th minute respectively.
"I'm not happy in as much we've lost another home game, and that's difficult to take," said Adams as Vale now turn their attention to Tuesday's home clash with Bradford City.
"But we'll have to try and get over it as quickly as we can because we've got another home game on Tuesday.
"We've lost a game of football because of two minutes of madness at the end of the first half, which is hard to take.
"At the start of the second half we came out and had a go.
"People may say that it's easier to perform when you're losing but you've still got to go out and do it.
"Some people let themselves down.
"I saw people not wanting the ball, particularly in the first half, and if I could have taken 10 players off at half time I would have."
Osman pounced from close range after Vale keeper Joe Anyon produced a clanger by dropping a Paul Rodgers cross.
"We conceded shocking goals, but there's not a lot you can do," added Adams.
"Your keeper comes out and drops a cross at the feet of their player who puts it in.
"That's not bad play on our part.
"Maybe we could have worked harder at trying to stop the cross from coming in.
"But keepers, from time-to-time, make mistakes and we're not going to pillory Joe for that – he'll have to live with that."

“Big Bill...I presume you didn't go to games during the last 2 seasons under Glover & Sinnot. Adams has made a big difference to the team. This time last year we were seriously in threat of going out of the league, this year some people are moaning that we won't be in the play-offs. I think the time to judge Adams will be this time next season, as this summer a load of players contracts are up and he can build a squad with players he wants. I'm confident we will see another improvement and be heading for at least play-offs.
Viking..Adams has said that he knows all about Martin and is impressed with him, and he wanted to give Anyon a run of games as his contract is up in the summer and he wants to see him in first team action before making a decision on whether to reatin him.”
