Port Vale: Adams disappointed despite a point
by Steve Shaw
VALE boss Micky Adams admits he was left a little disappointed despite watching his side secure a point against league leaders Bournemouth.
The woodwork intervened twice in the first half to deny Vale an opening goal as the teams fought out a 0-0 draw.
However, the visitors also hit the post during the second period while Valiants keeper Chris Martin produced a superb save to deny striker Brett Pitman late on.
Adams said: "I am disappointed to some degree although Chris Martin has made a save late on and it could have gone the other way.
"I thought we started very tentatively against a good side who are top of the league.
"But 20 to 25 minutes before the break, that's when we should have capitalised on some good chances.
"So we were disappointed to come in 0-0 at half-time, but having said that, I'm delighted with the way we played in the last 25 minutes in the half.
"In the second half we did okay. I was pleased the players got something out of the game. It would have been cruel if we had lost it at the end..
"But we take that performance."

“JJ looks a promising acquisition but we need more pace and width”

“It would've been nice to have capitalised on our chances late in the first-half but, all in all, a draw was fair. Jasson J looks promising and could give something we currently lack in midfield. Bournemouth had two pacey wingmen and that's what we lack.”
