Poor turnout to watch the run
I WENT to watch the annual Pet Food Run (Sentinel, September 17) and for the third year running, I was the only one in Sneyd Green who turned out to watch the riders.
In the past, there have been quite a few congregating on Holden Bridge and along Leek New Road, but this year, not one.
Where have the spectators all gone?
It must be so disappointing for the riders and the organisers.

At least other parts of the route were better supported, according to the report in The Sentinel.
My apologies to the riders for the poor turnout in Sneyd Green.
Perhaps next year will be better.

“I suspect people failed to turn out due to not knowing it was taking place. Where was the advance advertising? Perhaps next time notices could be put up on posts along the route and a showy reminder in the sentinel wouldn't go amiss either.”
