Politics and the police don't mix
THE courts have dealt with the case brought by Stoke-on-Trent councillor Joy Garner against former city councillor Michael Coleman.
Now we turn our attention to the fact Mrs Garner is a candidate in the forthcoming election for a Commissioner of Police for Staffordshire.
Surely the candidature of somebody who, I think, plays fast and loose with interpretation of words must be cause for concern.
What next? Since Councillor Garner obviously believes that it is wrong to express even the mildest of opinions, will she, if elected, seek to suppress freedom to think?

There are many people in Stoke-on-Trent, especially in Stoke, who feel the leader of the city council, in stifling debate on the replacement of the City Hall project and removal of any opposition to his leadership, is already leading the city backwards into George Orwell's 1984.
Councillor Garner may have believed that in taking up a complaint made by a member of the public she was acting in the interest of all.
Or did she feel that it would help her campaign to become commissioner of police by taking Mr Coleman to court?
Many saw it as blatant opportunism and politically and racially motivated.
A police commissioner from any party heralds the start of a very slippery slope.
Past history and the current situation in the Middle East, Far East and Latin America are prime examples of politicised police forces.
Not to mention the fact that at some point in the future we could end up with a carbon copy of John Prescott in charge of Staffordshire Police.

“Totally agree. For someone to go to the police with a concern of their constituent smacks of nothing short of political opportunism. To have believed taking up this complaint was acting in the interest of all shows how out of touch she is. Was it in the interests of members of the BNP? Or the EDL? Or the PCF? Of course not!!
Has she not grasped the basics that not to hate dark skinned people is in fact anti-white? Just as Nick Griffin rightly pointed out that not hating gays is heterophobic. Or that Political Correctness is another term for "how dare they tell me I have to be nice"!! These lefties have got to grip of the fact that without hatred some of us have nothing left to live for.
Pigs can fly, the moon is made of cheese and the intelligent of you could have spotted I was making a monkey out of the far-right. Not hard though is it, with their 'flat-earth' ideas about race, sexuality and gender.”

“She hasn't got 17 GCSE's has she Gary? It's impossible.
You see, some us come on here to argue about the way the world actually is - not how we imagine it to be.
So, who brought this girl into the argument and lied about her achievements in the first place? I didn't even know the fascist had kids!”

“Labour supporters appearing in here should really just grow up.
If you believe that casual onlookers to this site would support your mindless abuses as being a reflection of Stoke-on-Trent's natural political lead, then I think you have at least one small screw loose.
You have belittled a schoolgirl's GCSE achievements to further attacks upon freedom of speech and call everyone Nazi supporters.om dare to disagree with you.
A pathetic approach, if I may say so.”

“TONE,
I would have nothing against the arrows as such, if they weren't so..... 'cowardly' I mean, as you say, they, for lots of people have obviously become a substitute for debate,... Don't agree but lack either the courage, or the intellect to say WHY you disagree? simple,.. just 'click and run' Most of the sites I post on wont have a 'red arrow' or 'dislike' option for the simple reason that it's abused by cowards. and they add NOTHING to the debate, they are about as 'meaningful' as a brick through a window,
Now OF COURSE I've clicked a few myself, but only AFTER I have put forward my reasons for disagreeing to the poster in question, (quite often several times)
I think we should be able to SEE who has red (or green) arrowed us,
Without that option it's utterly meaningless, (hence my 'red arrowing' myself to emphasise that very point)
Being able to see just who has red,.. or green, arrowed you would also expose the really saddest of all, the 'cookie clearing' serial clickers,
AS ever, I have 'redded' myself first in protest,”

“It's strange, how we both claim to defend free speech, and yet only one of us sides with Pond,
I have NO interest in, nor do I in anyway 'support' Stoke Labour, Hell I don't 'support' the national Labour party, and will only vote for them next time (for the first time since 97) for ONE simple reason, and that is, because they (A) are NOT the (official) Tory party, and (B) are the only party that can rid us of this utterly vile bunch of bas**rds,
I certainly don't expect life to be wonderful under 'Tory lite' but I would vote for (almost) anyone if they could rid us of this Tory filth,
I will be complaining about 'Tory lite' when (not IF) they 'win' the next election (unlike Tory full strength who failed to win the last one) But I would rather have a sprained ankle than a broken one, I'm 'funny' like that,
First red arrow is mine etc blah blah blah,”

“I really do think that you have lost the plot here.
How on earth can you defend a stance (yours is Labour, it's no secret) of free speech when we know that Labour in this City openly has been caught out cheating to deny that free speech?
Again, you attack me personally and remarkeably you link me to far right extreme political groups simply because I defend free speech.
Remember, I was stopped by the 'free speech' brigade from representing my beliefs in open contests.
I have never been a councillor, a MP, or any other paid politician in this City.
But I had to be stopped anyway.
This wasn't because I was bad, it was simply because I was more than good at what I did and everyone was on board.
Honesty, openness, trust and clear transparent representation.
They couldn't live with that.
To link me now to a supremecist grouping is a new tactic that baffles me.
Great Britain is a Country thst offers asylum and justice regardless of any interpretations of the current administers of such ideals.
I defend the right of free speech which does not neccessarily mean that I have to agree with the content of that speech.
If I deny them that free speech, then I couldn't really argue the point if they deny me in return, now could I.
It is you that is twisted in your political beliefs and it is you that continues to deny the persecution of free speech as nothing more than one big publicity stunt by Labour for electoral purposes.
You have tampered with personal ideals which demands a more severe approach to highlight and correct your perverse behaviour.”
