POLICE are looking for two men who stole lead from the roof of Stoke Minster.

The Latvian nationals, who all live in Crewe, failed to attend Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for sentencing yesterday after admitting the offence last month.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones issued bench warrants for Mykolas Serdiucenko, aged 18, of Gresty Road, and Spartacus Grachauskas, aged 23, of Walthall Street.

No warrant was issued for Nikoladus Janouicius, aged 23, of Casson Street, as the judge was told the defendant's solicitors were in contact with him yesterday and he had not been informed of the hearing.

The thieves caused more than £30,000 damage to the church when they stole about 70 sheets of lead on April 19.
