SIX youths arrested in connection with an attack on firefighters have been bailed.

The teenagers, aged between 16 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of arson on Sunday after a tree was set on fire.

They are also being investigated for affray and criminal damage after bricks were thrown at firefighters.

The crews were tackling a fire on Barber Street in Burslem at the time.

Police officers who accompanied the crew gave chase and six youths were arrested.

They were questioned and released on bail until November 17, pending further inquiries.

Another crew from the same station in Burslem also came under attack from stones in neighbouring Mitchell Street when tackling another blazing bonfire the previous evening.
