A CHURCH has launched a new event for children.

The Collegiate Church of St Mary, in Stafford town centre, is holding fortnightly Praise and Play sessions for pre-school children and their parents or carers.

The event is for the under-fives, with 20 minutes of stories, song and prayer.

And it is followed by tea, coffee and chat for the adults, while the youngsters enjoy themselves in a recently created play area in the church.

The next Praise and Play is next Wednesday at 10am. Admission is free and all are welcome.

St Mary's Curate, and mother of two, the Reverend Mandy Walker, said: "This is a very simple, friendly event, designed for the pre-school age group. It gives families an opportunity to get to know the church at the heart of Stafford in an informal, relaxed setting."
