RESIDENTS are fighting plans for a new takeaway.

An application has been submitted to Stafford Borough Council to open an Indian takeaway in a vacant shop unit on Pirehill Lane, in Walton.

The shop is on a row of eight ground floor commercial units, with four flats above.

Three neighbours have objected, raising concerns about potential anti-social behaviour, litter, noise and parking issues.

Councillor Deborah Wakefield has called in the application, which will now be discussed by members of the council's planning committee on Wednesday.

Councillor Wakefield said: "There is already a fast food outlet in the precinct of shops which frequently closes due to lack of business and then reopens again under new management."

Planning officers have recommended the application should be approved.
