Persistent rain causes flooding and hazardous driving conditions across Staffordshire

PERSISTENT rain last night and into today is leading to flooding and hazardous driving conditions across Staffordshire.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for severe weather across the county.

There are reports of flooding on parts of the A34 and surface water is causing poor visibility on the M6.

The A34 had been closed for several hours at Yarlet Lane, but has since reopened.

The B5051 Breach Road was closed near Brown Edge, between the junctions with Broad Lane and Woodside Avenue, but has also reopened.

A number of major and minor roads are affected by standing water, Staffordshire County Council said.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has urged drivers to take care amid the difficult conditions.
