Patient says meals are worse than before contract changeover
PATIENT David Walker has spent so much time on wards he is an aficionado when it comes to hospital food.
But the 24-year-old – who needs oxygen and physiotherapy treatment every three months – says the food was never as bad when it was cooked in the hospital kitchens.
He said: "My last stay in hospital was the first time I had a problem and it is since then they changed to Sodexo.
"The food was just rubbish.
"It didn't have any taste and there wasn't enough."
David and partner Sonia Carroll, of Whitridge Grove, Bentilee, said the family had even brought in McDonald's meals to supplement the hospital food.
Sonia, aged 19, said: " The portions were too small, so at 3am to 4am David was asking the nurses to go and find him some food."
Sales engineer Rob Lightwood, pictured, was in hospital for 12 days after having his gall bladder removed.
Mr Lightwood, of Sevenoaks Grove, Meir Park, could only eat for the past four days.
The 57-year-old said that soup and sandwiches were acceptable, but hot meals were not.
He added: "The care I got was fantastic, but the food was awful."
