A 21-YEAR-OLD man punched his partner in the face after they rowed because she returned home late.

And when Joshua McAuley was arrested police found four cannabis plants in the flat at Dibden Court, Penkhull.

Prosecutor Andrew Bodger yesterday told North Staffordshire Magistrates how McAuley assaulted Sigourney Ley in the early hours of October 6.

The court heard she returned home at 1.30am, four hours after he was expecting her. They rowed and McAuley, who has no previous convictions, hit her once. He accepted he overreacted.
