Parking fines to hit centre trade
HANLEY is doomed. The reported aggressive parking policy by Stoke-on-Trent City Council will deter shoppers in droves.
After all, why would they want to pay more or risk a fine to visit that shabby place?
I made the mistake of visiting Hanley in search of Christmas shopping, taking advantage of the 9pm late night shopping.
But all I found was a £50 parking ticket on my windscreen – the penalty for assuming that late night shopping would be supported by late night parking.

For some illogical reason the car park closed at 8.30pm.
Rarely can any city council have been so much at odds with its own community.

“Go back to school and learn how to read. Traffic and parking signs are not there to catch us out, but to advise. If we don't contravene the regulations, we will not be fined.”
