Panel verdict due on medic
A DOCTOR who admitted taking sedatives from theatres at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire will learn his fate on Friday.
The General Medical Council (GMC) Fitness to Practise panel has now heard all evidence at a misconduct case against anaesthetist Dr Rahul Chandavarkar.
The panel went into private session after being told his actions could have been caused by his adverse physical or mental health.
A GMC spokesman said that the case had been adjourned until Friday, when any sanctions against the medic would be announced.
It is alleged five small containers of the drug Midazolam went missing during a surgical session in 2008. Three were later found in Dr Chandavarkar's bag.
