STEVEN Lewis failed to qualify for the final of the pole vault at the Beijing Olympics today.

The British number one, from Light Oaks, was unable to clear 5.45m – a long way short of his personal best of 5.71m.

The 22-year-old follows Alsager vaulter Kate Dennison out of the competition after she failed to make the women's final.
