Official launch for £40m unit
THE region's new £40 million maternity unit will be officially opened tomorrow.
Professor Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, will be shown around the state-of-the-art Hartshill centre.
And he will be joined at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire by fellow dignitaries Professor Cathy Warwick, general secretary of the Royal College of Midwives, and Jane Abbott, who is head of programmes at baby-care charity BLISS.
Mrs Abbott will unveil a plaque on the neonatal unit during the tour, while professors Arulkumaran and Warwick will formally open the new maternity unit in the antenatal clinic.

“the new maternity hasnt been open very long.. i went and had my baby there on 29th july 2010. its discusting, theres blood stains in the shower, yellow grime in the baby bath, floors filthy, and the way i was treated was awful, i had a c/section on the thursday. the following day (friday) i was left without painkillers from 7am until 20.15pm,then at 21.50pm i was double dosed,im so pleased i got sterilized so i have never got go back there ever again. in the end on the saturday i discharged myself as i couldnt take it anymore.this is only the half of what went on in there.”
