A MAN has been given a second chance to complete a think-first scheme after twice breaching a suspended sentence.

Last October Richard Savigar, who pleaded guilty to an affray in Longton Park, was given eight months' detention, suspended for two years, with 18 months' supervision and a requirement to attend a thinking skills programme.

But Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the 21-year-old failed to attend the first two sessions of the thinking skills scheme on February 4 and February 9 this year.

Prosecutor Trevor Meegan said probation staff were prepared to give Savigar, of Carling Grove, Fenton, another chance.

And he recommended the breach be marked with an activity requirement.

Anis Ali, mitigating, said Savigar admitted the breach, adding: "This was a blip. He understands what is required of him."

Judge Simon Tonking marked the breach by adding a requirement Savigar attends six appointments with the youth support service.

He also ordered the defendant to pay £110 costs.
