OAP rescued after river fall
FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue an elderly man who had fallen into a river.
Two crews from Leek and a specialist water rescue unit were called to Westwood Golf Club, in Leek, at around 11am yesterday.
They used lines, ladders and water rescue equipment so they could get the man out of the River Churnet and lead him to safety.
He was checked over by ambulance staff, but had not suffered any serious injuries.
