Nostalgia letter: House where I was born
MADAM, – Re: the article about the pancake race in Washerwall Lane, Werrington (All Our Yesterdays, February 21).
It hit me as soon as I saw the picture – the house in the background is where I was born. I think it was number one, but for sure it was Washerwall Lane.
My family moved to Cheddleton when I was about three years old, and I think my brother and sister were both born in Cheddleton.
My grandparents lived just a little further along, and an aunt further along as well.
I recall at the end of the lane that you entered Wetley Common.
I emigrated to Canada in 1949. The Sentinel brings back many memories. It arrives on my computer each morning.
