Nominate your stars of the city
THE Sentinel has once again teamed up with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to honour our amateur sporting stars.
Nominations are now open for the 2012 Stoke-on-Trent Sports Personality of the Year awards, which highlight the achievements of individuals and teams linked to the city.
A gala dinner will take place in May to honour those who impress our panel of judges.
Candidates must either live, work, go to school or be affiliated to a club based within the Stoke-on-Trent City Council borders.
Within sale price, council tax paid for a full 12 months, plus £100 per month towards your gas and electricity bill for a period of 12 months, plus solicitors costs (ts and cs apply).

However, there is also a Sentinel Editor's award which throws the competition open to all sportsmen and women within the newspaper's circulation area of North Staffs and South Cheshire.

THE CATEGORIES
SERVICE TO SPORT
This accolade will be given in recognition for long service to a sport or sports clubs in the city of Stoke-on-Trent.
COACH OF THE YEAR
This gong is for those who have invested time, effort and energy in an individual or team.
SPORT IN THE COMMUNITY
The category for individuals, teams or groups who have brought communities together through sport.
JUNIOR INDIVIDUAL
This category is for athletes from any sport under the age of 18 who have achieved success in the past year. Able-bodied athletes only.
JUNIOR TEAM
This section is open to teams who have achieved success over the past year and whose members are under 18.
SENIOR INDIVIDUAL
This category is open to able-bodied athletes from any sport over the age of 18, who have achieved success in the past year.
SENIOR TEAM
This award will be presented to a team who have achieved success in 2012 whose members are predominantly over the age of 18.
DISABILITY AWARD
An open age award for athletes with a learning or physical disability, who have achieved success.
EDITOR'S AWARD
An award open to individuals who live, work, study or are affiliated to a club or organisation within The Sentinel's circulation area.
OVERALL WINNERS
Awarded to the outstanding sportsman and woman. Selected from nominations in above categories.
