A FARMERS' market will be held for the first time at a garden centre.

The market will take place at Bridgemere Nursery and Garden World, near Nantwich, on Saturday.

It will then be held on the second Saturday of every month between 10am and 4pm.

Gary Kemp, general manager at the garden centre, said: "This is our first farmers' market at the garden centre and we have asked local producers to come and use our space to sell goods and chat to visitors about their work.

"The great thing about the market is that all the stall-holders produce or make their own goods including sausages, vegetables, cakes and pastries, jams, chutneys, savoury pies and wines."

Organisers hope they can encourage customers to reduce their food miles by shopping locally.

The garden centre, is south of Nantwich on the A51. For more details call 01270 521 100.
