Netball: Tean thirds show their fighting spirit
TEAN Valley Three displayed their promotion credentials by fighting back to beat club-mates and league rivals Tean Valley Two.
In a nail-biting match at the top of Stoke-on-Trent Winter League Division Three, Tean's second team held a narrow lead throughout the first half.
Goal attack Dominique Wright put in a player-of-the-match display, but Becky Sherratt's thirds finally edged in front in the third quarter.
Sharp-shooting from Natasha Sims and Nicola Dunn ultimately helped set up an important 25-19 win.
The result leaves Tean Valley Three holding on to Rubies' coat-tails, while the seconds are needing a slip from one of the leading pair to squeeze back into the promotion picture.
And they might be looking over their shoulders at fourth-placed Harriers C, who claimed a 34-21 win over Roshni Ladies. Nina Jefferies inspired the 13-goal win which keeps Helen Woollaston's side firmly in the chase.
Fenton C remain favourites for the title in Division Four after holding off battling Tean Valley Shooters.
High-flying Fenton soared into a 10-1 lead, and though Shooters hit back, Fenton pulled away in the end to seal a 23-18 win.
