'Nature, not human error' to blame for Titanic disaster

New research suggests the Titanic disaster was caused by the extraordinary power of nature, rather than a series of human blunders. It follows the recent discovery by British author and historian, Tim Maltin, of 75 previously unseen ships' log books from April 1912 in the area of the ship's wreck site. Tim's discoveries reveal that on January 4, 1912, the unusual proximity of the sun, moon and earth caused the highest tide for 1,700 years, which re-floated an armada of icebergs grounded along the Labrador coast. The huge volumes of ice and freezing melt-water swelled the Labrador Current, which carried the ice much further south than usual, into the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. It is claimed the cold, dense air over the freezing Labrador current caused light to bend abnormally downwards, around the curvature of the earth, lifting up a 'false' horizon which camouflaged the fatal iceberg. Pictured right is the only known surviving first-class ticket from the Titanic, on show at the Merseyside Maritime Museum in Liverpool.

“Ok so if 'nature' throws something into our path and we ignore it and slam into it then it's nature's fault! Odd bit of thinking here, not uncommon for The Sentinel journalists, but odd never the less.
If the large number of ice bergs was due to the alignment of sun, moon and earth then yes that is a natural event. If, however we know about the added threat of extra ice in the area and we choose to ignore the warnings, as the Captain of Titanic did and unlike most other shipping in the area that night, then that is human arrogance and stupidity. In itself a natural phenomena, humans being part of nature, but one which could have been avoided by slowing or even stopping the ship. Nature can be blamed for a lot of things but to say that Titanic sinking was a pure act of nature is rubbish. It was plain human error all the way.”
