WILLIAM Sherratt, otherwise known as Stoke-based musician Mr Will, has studied under internationally acclaimed performers from Mali, Guinea and Gambia. His eclectic style fuses together West African influences with mainstream British sounds. This year he aims to release three original singles, which he will follow up with an album next year. Our panel have their say on his latest track, Sing For The Moment. The video was shot at the former Spode Works.

Charlie Phair, aged 24, is a postgraduate living in Alder Close, Loggerheads.

Charlie says: "Along with his trusty guitar, Mr Will has long been a key member of the local music scene, promoting world music to a wider audience.

"Recently he has got back into recording and playing music as part of his band, Mr Will Music, releasing Sing For The Moment.

"The result is an eclectic mix of African and Latin genres that brightened up my day.

"I was won over by the guitar melodies and the frenetic finger picking madness of it all.

"The rhythm section is fast and funky and the harmonising vocals provided by Seby Ntege and Hassan Kayemba sing out an infectious chorus.

"Lasting just over three minutes Sing For The Moment is a whirlwind of joy, which I would recommend to everyone."

Lyndsey Fritzl is a full-time music journalism and broadcasting student at Staffordshire University.

The 23-year-old, from St Margaret's Drive, Sneyd Green, says: "Summer has finally arrived!

"With its catchy chorus and carnival sound, Sing For The Moment is a track that's definitely worth downloading.

"While listening to the song, straight away my mood was uplifted, as it represents happiness and unity.

"An immediate reggae feel comes across to the listener, from the guitars used, mixed up with the superb vocals.

"The funky song is accompanied by a music video that gives a good representation of Stoke-on-Trent.

"It was filmed at the former Spode Works."
