ON A PLATE: Museum visitors can turn their hand to painting pottery at workshops inspired by the designs of Clarice Cliff.

Gladstone Pottery Museum, in Longton, is offering adults the chance to paint a plate during sessions on Saturday, May 16.

Museum manager Angela Lee said: "Individuals who are interested are invited to book into a session to learn about how people painted pottery in the past and decorate a plate in an art deco style to take home with them."

She added: "We have chosen a Clarice Cliff style because it allows people with a very limited artistic background to get a good result.

"People really enjoy learning new skills and there is no denying being able to create something and take it home with you offers a sense of achievement."

The sessions run between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

They cost £7.50 including admission to the museum, which is usually £5.95.

To book, call 01782 237777.
