A FAMILY could be facing Christmas with an incomplete kitchen after a delivery mix-up.

Mother-of-two Sarah Shore bought units and work surfaces from Oldham-based Rock Solid Kitchens in March.

The 32-year-old received the goods last month but found errors with the order.

Mrs Shore and husband Simon paid Rock Solid Kitchens £1,800 for a solid oak shaker-style kitchen, with cupboards, work tops, and an integrated dishwasher and fridge-freezer.

But they were sent the wrong work tops and drawers, and had no pelmets or cornices.

Mrs Shore said: "They only sent one man to deliver the kitchen so my husband had to help bring everything into the house, and so couldn't check for everything at the time.

"They wouldn't take cheques so we had to pay in cash, which I wish we had not done."

The couple, of St Bernard's Road, Knutton, have made numerous attempts to contact the firm over the last month without success. Now they are threatening to take legal action.

Mrs Shore added: "We've emailed them four times in four weeks, and had no reply. We've rung customer services but were told to email or fax instead. I'm having to make the kids' tea on top of the dishwasher, and we're eating a lot of Pot Noodles. I don't think we're going to have a kitchen before Christmas. We had looked around on the internet and Rock Solid Kitchens was the cheapest."

Engineer Mr Shore, aged 33, said: "We've got a fridge-freezer, a cupboard, and a kitchen sink propped up with a piece of wood. We're practically living off takeaways. It's costing us a fortune."

Oldham Trading Standards said it has received numerous calls about Rock Solid Kitchens, and advises customers to contact Consumer Direct for help.

A spokesman said: "We have received quite a few complaints about Rock Solid Kitchens.

"One of the owners of the company, Alan Ford, is currently awaiting trial at Manchester Crown Court for conspiracy to defraud and trade description offences."

Nobody at Rock Solid Kitchens was available for comment.

“This company are a liability. My neighbour took them to court. He was advised by the court to go after the individual, ie Alan Ford, then if they folded the company, the debt would still be against him. They didnt turn up at court, the judge spent 2 hours going through things and awarded my neighbour £1,800. Kitchens didnt pay. Baliffs went in, we got a letter saying that nothing in the company belonged to Alan Ford so we didnt get out money. We are now trying to pursue the court to see what action we can take next. In addition we will be calling Watchdog again which we believe Alan Ford has already been on. Both Vance Miller and Alan Ford are crooks. DO NOT BUY A KITCHEN FROM THEM AND BEWARE, THEY ARE TRADING UNDER MANY DIFFERENT NAMES!!!”

“Hi there, I would be very interested to know the outcome of the court case aagainst Alan Ford as I have recently signed up for a kitchen with the company. Have cancelled with no response, have I had a lucky escape or what? I am happy to join anyone in their fight against them as I want my deposit back.!!!!!!!”

“What a shame for this family & so close to Christmas! Lets hope the company come to their senses and send out the missing items. Eating a pot noodle is not the same as turkey with all the trimmings at Christmas. It's good that the family have made readers aware about Rock Solid Kitchens, as I would never put my hard earned money into their hands! Good luck Shore family!”
