MOTHER-OF-THREE Kate Franks has been given an extra seven hours of unpaid work after she failed to turn up for appointments on March 4 and April 16.

She was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, with 12 months' supervision and 100 hours of unpaid work in November after being convicted of assaulting her former partner.

The 34-year-old, of Wolstanton Road, Chesterton, yesterday pleaded guilty to breaching the order.

Nick Tatlow, representing Staffordshire Probation Service, said Franks has been doing very well on the order in difficult circumstances.

Judge Granville Styler told Franks: "If there is any reason why you can't make an appointment you must keep in dialogue with the service."
