Missing runner search halted
GREEK police have called off the official search for missing runner John Lawton.
The 62-year-old, from Alsager, disappeared while running the 35km Taygetos Challenge race in southern Greece on Easter Sunday.
John, who has competed in marathons around the world, failed to make it to the race's fifth checkpoint, which has led to suggestions he got lost somewhere along the way.
Search teams have spent the last three weeks combing the mountainous area around the race course.

The Greek rescue organisation Gaia had to scale back its efforts last week due to its volunteers needing to return to work.
John's wife Lynda and son Steve are continuing the search themselves, supported by Gaia and the race organisers.
The Help Find John Lawton group on Facebook is calling on supporters to contact the Foreign Secretary William Hague and ask him to put pressure on the Greek authorities to continue the search.
