A MAJOR police operation was launched following the disappearance of a 49-year-old man.

The alarm was raised at 2am yesterday after the man was reported missing from his Harriseahead home.

There were fears that the man, who has not been named, could try to injure himself.

Staffordshire Police brought in the force helicopter and used dogs in the hunt.
