Stone's former Miss UK Kirsty Bertarelli sings duet with Ronan Keating on new single (video)

Britain's richest woman Kirsty Bertarelli is launching a singing career - 13 years after she wrote a No.1 hit for girl band All Saints.

Mrs Bertarelli, who hails from Stone and whose family run Churchill China, sings a duet with Ronan Keating on the first single to be released from her new album Love Is.

In 2000 the 41-year-old former Miss UK, wrote the All Saints song Black Coffee, which topped the charts for weeks. Now, she and Ronan Keating have released Send Out A Message To The World, a melodic anthem which says has been inspired by her life.

Mrs Bertarelli, who shares a £7bn fortune with her husband the Swiss-Italian biotech businessman Ernesto, told The Independent: I'm from Staffordshire and I've been very fortunate but I'm the same girl I used to be.

"I've always been a creative and sensitive person. I feel elation and sometimes pain, like everyone else and that's what I draw on in my song-writing."

Mrs Bertarelli's family runs The Bertarelli Foundation, which oversees philanthropic contributions to good causes. Her last public trip to North Staffordshire was in May of 2012, when she came to the Regent Theatre, in Hanley, to launch the inaugural Creative Minds Festival, which was suported by the Foundation.

This week, in London, she performed a concert for music industry executives to help promote her new album.

After the concert Mrs Bertarelli, who in 1989 won the Miss UK title and was third in the Miss World contest, told the Independent that she had written many of her new songs while on her family's £100m yacht Vava II. "I write a lot on the boat," she said. "Although I don't have a recording studio on it."
