HUNDREDS of campaigners are expected to descend on a council meeting to support a petition opposing the authority's plans to move its headquarters.

Student Kristian Foster will present a 1,397-name internet and paper petition to Stoke-on-Trent City Council calling on the authority to drop plans to leave Stoke and set up a new base in Hanley's Central Business District.

The 29-year-old, of Penkhull, will have three minutes to speak at Thursday's full city council meeting.

The meeting comes as the March on Stoke campaign group is meeting at Reardon, in Hanley, at 7.30pm tonight.
