Meet up for a Sentinel Tweet-up
THERE'S still time to sign up for The Sentinel and Thisisstaffordshire's 'tweet-up' at an historic Burslem pub.
The gathering enables users of social network Twitter to meet their favourite journalists or most infuriating columnists.
Do you love our coverage of Port Vale or Stoke City, or sport in general? Sports reporters including Guy Pearson, Michael Baggaley and Pete Smith are on Twitter and are open to talk about their respective teams while Sports Editor Keith Wales can talk about the way our coverage is compiled, both in the newspaper and on the web.
More bothered about local news? You can quiz or pass tip-offs to the likes of our Council Reporter Alex Campbell or our Business Editor Ann King. Perhaps you're interested in the way we're using the web in our coverage of news? The www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk website's current Digital Publisher Chris Hogg will be available to talk about some of tools which we now use to both report and curate the views and pictures of readers posting updates on Twitter.

As a star turn, The Sentinel's columnist – and sometime Tweeter – John Woodhouse is to perform a stand-up slot with some of his wry observations on the curious customs and conventions that users on Twitter have to get used to.
The 'tweet-up' will take place at The Leopard in Burslem, from 7pm, on February 5.
Anyone interested in joining the party should email chris.hogg@localworld.co.uk

Or perhaps 'tweeters' are a breed apart -and millions have 'signed-up' to attend the venue Tuesday 5th Feb at the Leopard in Burslem... and are 'tweeting' to each other about it, rather than posting comments on here".”

“Errm...?
This was posted up yesterday -with no comments so far... nearly mid-day Saturday now. Is there no interest? Or, is there some kind of STIGMA attached to being a 'twittering merchant'? -And so they prefer to 'stay mum'. 'Mum's the word'.
Or perhaps 'tweeters' are a breed apart -and millions have 'signed-up' to attend the venue Tuesday 5th Feb at the Leopard in Burslem... and are 'tweeting' to each other about it, rather than posting comments on here.
I suspect that there are many 'tweeterers' or is the correct term 'twiitterers'? -who have decided, for the moment, to stay in the closet until it catches on more widely and becomes an acceptable social way of communicating.
-Just as back in the time of the first 'mobiles' -the vast majority were reluctant to 'either use them' -or 'be seen to use them', now they have become ubiquitous -and people as old as 90 use them... though I hasten to add -they are in the minority.....still.”
