Man charged after police target homes in drug raids
FIVE people have been arrested as part of a drugs crackdown.
Police swooped on addresses in Leek and Biddulph after a series of warrants were issued across the Moorlands.
The action comes in the middle of National Tackling Drugs Week, a campaign to tackle drug dealing and reduce narcotic-related crime.
Cannabis was seized from an address in Deansgate, Leek, and a 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the supply of controlled drugs.
He was later charged and bailed to North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court.
A 31-year-old man was also arrested at an address in Ball Haye Road, Leek, and cautioned for the cultivation of cannabis.
A search of a house in Broad Street, Leek, led to the seizure of suspected stolen goods.
A man and woman, both 22, were later bailed pending further investigation.
A 20-year-old man was arrested at a house in High Street, Biddulph, where cannabis and equipment used in connection with growing drugs were seized. He was given a police caution.
Sergeant Lindsay Bromage said: "We will continue to work closely with partners and our local communities to ensure that their neighbourhoods are not exposed to the activities of drug dealers and users.
"These warrants send a clear message to those tempted to engage in drug use, at whatever level, that the local communities will not tolerate them."
Yesterday, The Sentinel revealed seven raids had been carried out across Stoke-on-Trent since June 1, as part of a major ongoing investigation targeting the organisers of cannabis production in the area.
