It is the second time Edge has been jailed for assaulting his partner.

But Judge Granville Styler declined to impose a fresh restraining order after it was claimed Miss Follett had previously visited Edge in prison and had become pregnant with his child while the original restriction was in place.

Jason Holt, defending, said: "As soon as he was released from the sentence he was approached by Miss Follett to resume the relationship.

"It is right to say she acknowledged there were problems when she realised he had returned to drugs.

" That is what caused them to fall out.

"The breach of the restraining order is at the lowest end as she's continued to let him live at her home and work on resuming the relationship."

The court was told that on July 27, an argument broke out between the pair over Edge's drug use.

He then went to leave the family home with the couple's baby.

David Bennett, prosecuting, said: "He pushed the pushchair against her legs before grabbing her by the throat.

"She was left with a sore jaw following the incident."

Edge was later spotted climbing a set of ladders outside the house and police were called.

In a subsequent interview with officers, Edge was found to have a small amount of heroin hidden in his mouth.

After being released on bail, Edge then returned to Miss Follett's home on July 31 and convinced her to drop the charges.

Mr Bennett added: "He returned there until August 3. That morning they argued over a bank card and he grabbed her by her clothing and also threw some keys at her.

"At 1.30am the next morning he then appeared at the back door with a large piece of concrete.

"He slapped her across the face and grabbed a skipping rope and said he would tie her up and torture her.

"He calmed down when he heard the baby cry."

Then, on August 5, Edge threatened to "blow up the house" and it was noted the telephone line outside the property had been cut.

Judge Granville Styler told Edge: "You breached a restraining order and on three occasions assaulted the same person in an unpleasant manner."

“Run? No. She should tell him to go and stay gone and have no more to do with him, then let the law step in and do their work without her undoing it all by her own foolish behaviour. If she wants this relationship so much she should stop wasting the police and the court's time when it goes badly, as it certainly will. Don't use the child as an excuse for staying with him, there is nothing positive about this relationship for the child with a father who is an atrocious example and can't be trusted not to extend his violence to the baby. In fact, I'd say if she insists on putting herself in jeopardy by trusting him under her roof, social services should take the child into safety away from them both.”

“Someone told me once that on average a woman will be assaulted by her partner at least 30 times before she will report it. A very worrying and sad statistic! Lock the cowardly scum up for a long time.”

“Good job you did not stab him, it would have been all your fault. Again men trying to control women in whatever shape or form and are expected to put up with it. How does it go, Don't burn his toast. Drugs is bad for your health. As you do .Can't believe he is still in a relationship with this woman; If this was a woman she would have got away with it. Somehow trying to justify it, or poke fun of. Domestic violence should not be tolerated. Being it either partner doing the abusing. Also here we have a child being put at risk. Has not got long enough. The sad fact here is she will not be able to get away from him because of the link with the child. The very one he puts in danger. Advice is to run and keep on running. Unless you want a life of abuse. No good for you or your child.”
