MP to oppose same sex marriages
A TORY MP is to oppose plans to allow gay couples to marry.
Stafford's Jeremy Lefroy said he has 'very serious concerns' about the proposals and has joined 58 MPs signing an open letter against them.
The cross-party alliance, including 35 Tory MPs, claims the government 'does not have a mandate' for change.
Maria Miller, the culture secretary, announced plans to allow same-sex couples to marry last week in a landmark move to effectively redefine marriage before the general election in 2015.

The Government will protect religious freedom - it will be left to the Church of England to makes its own choice on gay ceremonies.
Mr Lefroy said: "I have decided to sign this letter because I have some very serious concerns about this legislation, This policy was not contained in any party manifesto at the last election.
"The way in which the consultation has been handled has also given rise to considerable disquiet."
Labour is backing the changes, although MPs of all parties are expected to be allowed a free vote on the legislation – meaning they will not be disciplined for breaking ranks.

“There are lots of kids out there being brought up by single parent families, by grandparents, or step parents, by foster parents or care homes. This is not 'natural', but life sucks at times. Like hetro couples, some gays make good parents, some don't. End of.
And parenting children is the only argument I can see against same-sex marriage, all the other arguments are red tape and prejudice. There was a time being left handed was considered a sin and unnatural, and then society grew up a little. I hope it does the same regarding gay marriages.
As for God, (if he exists), who are all of you to decide what his ultimate plan is? Have you not considered he created gay people on purpose? Some of you argue that gay marriages are pointless as they cannot produce children.... maybe that's the whole point? Our planet is becoming vastly over populated with millions starving, maybe your God thought it a better idea to create gay love rather than send the floods again.
At the end of the day, this is love you're fighting. It may seem unnatural to you, but it is still love none the less.”

“A quote from dougalcross;
"Sorry, I was forgetting your off-duty pastimes.
Forgive me for asking, but you're not a lady correspondent taking the Michael out of us males, by any chance?"
No my friend, I'm most definitely a hetero male. And whilst I may have a 'twinkle in my eye' when I write a comment, I'm certainly not taking the Michael out of anyone.”
