DAVID Kidney MP has written to police and ministers about the Stafford Hospital scandal.

The Labour MP for Stafford said he wrote to Health Secretary Andy Burnham to express support for a wider NHS inquiry following the recent independent inquiry.

And he said he has also asked Staffordshire Police whether the report by Robert Francis QC discloses evidence on which to base a criminal prosecution.

He said: "Last Friday, Julie Bailey and members of Cure the NHS picketed my surgery at Penkridge.

"They asked for my support for a public inquiry and why no-one has been held to account for what went wrong at the hospital.

"They said 'why has no-one been prosecuted' and gave the example of a prosecution for corporate manslaughter."
