THE M6 was brought to a standstill last night because a man was threatening to jump from a bridge.

Officers were called to the bridge, between junctions 13 and 14 at Stafford, at 4.10pm yesterday.

As reported on This is Staffordshire at the time, both carriageways were closed for two hours while police spoke to the 61-year-old man, who was from Stafford.

He was detained under the Mental Health Act and the M6 was reopened shortly after 6pm.
