TAILBACKS: There was major congestion on the M6 yesterday after a lorry shed its load of metal waste at 2.30pm.

Motorists faced delays of 50 minutes after the incident on the northbound motorway between junction 16 and junction 17.

The road was partially closed while the carriageway was cleared of debris and it was about 5pm before congestion eased.
