Over a dozen sheds were broken into on Sunday night at the Lyme Valley allotments, despite being situated next to a big estate. This was not mindless vandalism as the culprits took their time. On many sheds all the hinges were unscrewed and the doors lifted out of the frames. Others were forced open which must have caused a noise, and yet seemingly no-one in the houses bordering the allotments heard anything.

This is the second time within the past three weeks that the sheds have been targeted. Police are looking into the matter and Cllr Elixabeth Shenton has reported the matter to Newcastle Borough Council.
