ART deco pottery firm Lorna Bailey Artware has donated £2,500 to the Fred Dibnah Memorial Fund – after selling out of its first batch of memorabilia made in his honour.

The 66-year-old steeplejack died in 2004 but relatives and friends are keeping his memory alive by raising funds for a bronze statue in his home town of Bolton.

Lorna Bailey Artware, which is named after its sole designer and employs 20 people, had produced 100 D’yer Like That figures to raise funds for the memorial appeal.

The company is now hoping its latest batch of memorabilia – 100 limited edition Steaming Fred figures – will prove just as popular.

Director Lionel Bailey said: “Our previous set sold out in a matter of weeks.”

The figures can be bought from Lorna Bailey Artware, in Wedgwood Street, Burslem, priced at £75.
