Lorna Bailey: Art deco company releases a new range of collectibles featuring The Beatles
BURSLEM art deco company Lorna Bailey Artware has released a range of collectibles featuring The Beatles.
The Rock Pop Art range, which feature caricatures of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, will go on sale to its collectors’ club and at the Beatles Story Museum, in Liverpool.
Director Lionel Bailey explained the inspiration for the range, which includes tea pots, plaques and fridge magnets, came from sole designer Lorna Bailey’s friendship with John Lennon’s sister Julia Baird.
He said: “Julia Baird is a friend of Lorna’s and she put us in touch with the Beatles Story Museum and now we supply to them.
He added: “We have taken quite a considerable amount of new memberships into the collectors’ club. There are a lot of people who are big fans of The Beatles who are also collectors.”
The Beatles range is the first time the company, which employs 20 people at its factory in Wedgwood Street, has used a celebrity as its inspiration. However, after seeing the level of demand, Mr Bailey said there could be more to follow. Lorna is pictured with four Beatles teapots from The Rock Pop Art range.
