Local venues make the grade for 2012
THE London 2012 Olympics organising committee has published a list of more than 600 sports venues which could host Olympic athletes.
Stoke-on-Trent's Fenton Manor Sports Complex is among 33 venues in the West Midlands which made the grade.
The 2012 committee members rated the site for the quality of its badminton, gymnastics and table tennis facilities.
Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council is commended for its athletics facilities at the Cumberland Track, and Tipkinder BMX track.
Manchester Metropolitan University's Alsager campus was also included for its archery, badminton, basketball, fencing, football, triathlon and volleyball provision.
Reaseheath College could provide equestrian facilities.
