MUSIC fans have been invited to a live event to support a seriously ill toddler.

There will be an evening of music at The Full Moon, in Newcastle, on Thursday to raise cash for brain tumour patient Ruby Owen.

Audley nursery teacher Mandy Riley and her son Ben want to boost funds for the two-year-old, whose parents need to raise £250,000 to pay for potentially life-saving treatment in the U.S.

Ben, aged 28, is the front man of The Cartellos, who will perform alongside Longwave and acoustic performers Sharron and Porl.

Mandy said: "I'm a teacher and secretary at Sandy Lane Kindergarten dealing with children Ruby's age and I couldn't help but think it could be one of them."

More than £40,000 has currently been pledged to help Ruby, from Kidsgrove.

Caudwell Children is also supporting her by managing donations and fund-raising.

The concert starts at 9pm. Entry is free and a collection will take place throughout the evening for the appeal.
